We break down the real-world value of the UGREEN Nexode 100W GaN charger—covering power, portability, and multi-device charging to help you decide if it's the right buy.
Quick answer
For most people with a laptop, tablet, and phone to charge daily, the UGREEN Nexode 100W GaN charger delivers enough power and port count without needing a separate hub. It is especially worth it if you value a compact footprint and the convenience of a single wall plug for multiple devices.
Who should consider the Nexode 100W?
The Nexode 100W is best suited for users who carry a laptop that supports USB-C charging (like a MacBook or ultrabook) plus a phone and earbuds. Its 5-port layout means you can plug in everything at once without swapping cables. If you only charge a phone and a tablet, a 65W charger would be smaller and cheaper.
What tradeoffs come with 100W charging?
A 100W GaN charger is larger than a 45W or 65W model, though still smaller than traditional brick chargers. When all five ports are used, the total power is shared—so a single laptop may charge slower than when plugged into a single port. For most overnight or desk charging this isn't an issue, but if you need maximum speed for a laptop while also charging other devices, plan your port usage accordingly.
Frequently asked questions about the UGREEN Nexode 100W
- Can it charge a MacBook Pro at full speed?
- Yes, when using a single USB-C port, the charger can deliver the full 100W, which is enough to fast-charge most 13- to 16-inch laptops. With multiple devices connected, power is shared, so charging speed may reduce. For fastest laptop charging, use only one port.
- Is the 5-port version or the retractable cable version better?
- The 5-port version (product ID 1311078) gives you more flexibility to use your own cables. The retractable version (product ID 1310568) is more portable and convenient if you prefer a built-in cable. Both deliver 100W total. Choose the 5-port if you need to charge many devices; choose the retractable if you value cable management.
- Will this charger work with non-UGREEN cables?
- Yes, the Nexode 100W is compatible with any standard USB-C cable that supports Power Delivery. For full 100W speed, use a cable rated for 100W or higher. Your existing cables will work, but check the cable's wattage rating.
- How does it compare to a 65W GaN charger?
- A 65W charger (like the UGREEN Nexode Air 65W) is smaller and lighter, but it can only charge one laptop at full speed and may not power a larger laptop under load. The 100W model gives you headroom for bigger laptops and simultaneous charging. If you only charge a phone and tablet, 65W is enough. For laptops, 100W offers more flexibility.
